Brookside’s Garden of Lights features more than a million lights enveloping the gardens creating a twinkling and whimsical wonderland. You’ll find trees and gazebos wrapped in lights, as well as lights crafted into original art forms of flowers, animals and other natural elements.
Our class begins with Corey discussing the strategies for night photography and how to best capture the displays and colorful lights. You will learn what camera settings to use for capturing high quality images, with special attention on aperture, shutter speed and autofocus. Focusing in the dark can be a challenge and Corey will share tips and techniques that will improve your focusing accuracy.
As we explore the Garden of Lights we will make creative use of perspective and color combinations to capture dynamic images. You will also have the opportunity to use camera motion to create abstract and impressionistic photographs.
Throughout the class Corey works with each student as they photograph to ensure a strong understanding of capturing the lights and night photography principles. This class is small enough where he can work with each individually person so all skill levels are welcome from beginner to advanced.
This class is a must to add to your holiday memories and for creating holiday cards.

What people Are Saying About Corey:
“Corey Hilz never disappoints! I have taken several classes with Corey and I always come away with more photographic knowledge and insight than before. Not only does he have great vision, he is also technically savvy, making him a guru in the field and in the classroom.
“I’ve done enough photo workshops to know that some instructors are good in the field while others are good in the classroom. Corey is outstanding in both! In the field he has an uncanny ability to show up just when you need his help. His comments are always constructive and nonjudgmental and he encourages you to try new techniques.”
“Corey Hilz did an excellent job of outlining the goals for the class, reinforcing some key concepts and adjustments relevant to the indoor environment, and providing guidance and feedback on composition. There was ample time to practice and Corey circulated among the group to review photos, provide helpful feedback, and answer questions. Extremely satisfied with the experience”
